By now you've probably decided on whether a Live Band or a DJ is the best option for your wedding. The next step is selecting a playlist that will be sure to keep you and your guests partying all night. it is important to play a variety of tunes that will cater to different preferences and age groups. Your Live Band and/or DJ should be able to read the crowd and know exactly what to play, however, if you'd like to have a little more influence on your playlist, here are a few tips.
For the older folks, like grand parents and great grand parents, you want to include some Standards like "Just The Way You Look Tonight" and "Summerwind." While they like to party, they usually like when there is a little break in the fast-paced music for a slow dance. Not your style? "At Last" and "My Girl" are classic ballads that transcends any generation and gets anyone out on the dance floor. It also allows for a break in the fast paced energy. For your Aunts, Uncles, Parents and their Friends, you want to include some Disco, Motown, Funk and Rock and Roll tunes. Songs like "September," "Love Train," "Signed Sealed Delivered," "Dancing in the Streets," "Play that Funky Music," "December of 63," "Old Time Rock and Roll," and "Great Balls of Fire" is sure to get them on the dance floor. Classic Rock tunes like "Sweet Home Alabama," "Living on a Prayer," "Shook Me All Night Long" and "Don't Stop Believing," are songs that everyone from your grand parents, to your parents and even you can appreciate. Need one for the ladies? "I Will Survive" and "Dancing Queen" is a sure shot. Also, you can't forget "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Sweet Caroline!"
Now that we've satisfied all of your older guests, its time to select songs for you and your friends. Are you a fan of 80's music? "Mickey," "Love Shack," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "Bille Jean" are all great party tunes. Are you a fan of 90's music? "This Is How We Do It" and "Poison" are sure to keep the party going. Of course, the party isn't complete without music from today's Top 40. While it is forever changing, songs like "I Got a Feeling," "Moves Like Jagger," "Raise Your Glass," "We Found Love" and "Uptown Funk" will always be classics. Some other Top 40 songs that are still rocking the dance floor today, are "Shut Up and Dance," "Cake by the Ocean," "Fireball," "Shape of You," "Despacito" and "Finesse."
